The Best Time to Study the Qur’an

The Best Time to Study the Qur’an

The Qur’an is the holy book of Islam which is a source of Islamic Sharia. The Qur’an is a holy book that must be studied by all Muslims so as to be able to carry out what is commanded and take lessons from everything explained about good and bad in the life of the world hereafter.
Parents often teach their children to learn the Qur’an from childhood, even since the womb with the hope that the child they have been carried knows early on. There are some benefits to read the Qur’an for pregnant women such as giving the convenience to learn and practice to the children ever since they were born
This is also done to prevent a condition where Muslims cannot read. Not understanding the Qur’an is certainly a disadvantage because they do not understand the meaningful content in it and cannot add good deeds to themselves. As a result, it can be a cause for them to end up in the hell. Therefore, it is important to know when is the best time to study the Qur’an so that it can give full benefit and goodness to the world of the hereafter.
  1. Ever Since in the Womb
  • The Fetus Can Hear and Feel Life Outside and There are Prayers for Newborns in Islam
According to the latest scientific research, a child can be educated since he was in the womb, because during the womb, a child’s brain and sense of hearing have begun to develop. They can feel what is happening outside their lives, while affecting the baby’s brain and sense of hearing the content includes the emotions and mental state of the mother, such as the sound stimuli that occur around the mother.
Babies are able to feel the chanting of the Qur’an so it is necessary to introduce the basis of Islamic law.
When the mother reads the verses of the Qur’an while stroking the elbow wall of her stomach, then in fact the baby in the womb also hears the chanting of the Qur’an while feeling the sensation of the vibration. And in some conditions, the baby replies to the vibration so that later it will be easy to learn the Qur’an.
  • Add a Sense of Faith
If this is done repeatedly, then the word of God: QS. Al Anfal: 2 “The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely.”
When the womb is five months old or equivalent to 20 weeks, the ability of a child in the womb to feel the stimulus has developed quite well so that the education and learning process can be started or done.
  • The Qur’an is the Best Stimulus for the Fetus
The science of psychology also states that a child who is in the womb can feel stimuli from the outside. The way they feel the stimulation is through sounds that occurs around their environment. If this habit continues to be done, then a child will become more familiar with the Qur’an. If he is familiar with the Qur’an, to learn, to understand, and to read it will come easier.
  1. Since the Early Age
  • Learning at an Early Age is Easier and Faster
Learning Arabic (Language in the Quran) cannot be done in one night. Instead, it must be slowly studied since childhood. As with the saying that exists, “Learning in childhood is like carving on a rock, while learning in the big time is like carving on sand.”
The purpose of the saying above is that learning in childhood is easier and more lasting. Because when you were little, children easily remember what they have learned. This is supported by the condition of the growth and development of the child’s brain; meanwhile old people tend to forget more easily.
  • Righteous Child
Every parent must want his baby to be righteous. One that must be taught to children is everything about the Qur’an, because the Qur’an is a guideline for human life. Teaching the Qur’an to children can make them feel close to their life guidelines and to God.
The messenger of Allah said: “Educate your children with three things: love your Prophet, love his superstition, and read the Qur’an because those who maintain the Qur’an are in the ambience of Allah on the day when there is no protection.” (Narrated by Ath Thabrani)
  • Learning the Qur’an From an Early Age Helps Brain Development
Teaching the Qur’an to children from childhood can foster development in thinking. If this activity is carried out continuously, it will increase knowledge of the child about the Qur’an by memorizing, writing, listening, and reading the Qur’an.
In introducing the Qur’an, it can be done by showing the Qur’an to children before they get to know other books, especially interesting books such as comics and magazines. Knowing the Qur’an can also be done by introducing the letter hijaiyyah first. If it is done continuously, it will make the child want to know more so that it can help facilitate the introduction of the Qur’an.
  • Done Step by Step
Teaching the Qur’an to children does not have to be direct but also with an interesting stage, so that the child does not have boredom in learning the Qur’an. Even though there are many difficulties in studying the Qur’an, parents can start explaining it so that the child understands the contents of Al Qur’an. For example, listening to verses in the Qur’an can be done directly or by playing a cassette so the child can listen to it well without any other obstacles.
  • Learn It Anywhere
Listening to the Qur’an can make it easier for children to memorize it, because memorizing the Qur’an also starts from listening, so it is not difficult to teach the Qur’an to children. If the learning activities are carried out continuously, it will help add the knowledge of the reading that they hear.
Listening to the Qur’an can be done anytime and anywhere because this activity is not very difficult to do. Besides, it can also be an entertainment.
  1. Keep on Studying at the Adult Age
  • Do Not Forget the Qur’an Because of Worldly Activity
Do not let the excuse of being busy or many other activities make us forget to read the Qur’an, because the true calm and tranquility can be obtained from the Qur’an and we need that serenity at adult age. This is based on the word of Allah, “Remember only by remembering Allah is the heart to be peaceful.” (Surah Ar Ra’d: 28)
From Abdullah bin Mas’ud Radiallohu ‘Anhu Rasululloh Sallallaahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam said, “Whoever reads one letter from the Qur’an then for him is the tenfold of goodness, I do not say Alif Lam Mim as one letter, because Alif is one letter, Lam is one letter, and Mim is also one letter.”
Even being envy of those who have practiced the Qur’an is permissible. From Ibn Umar Radiallohu ‘Anhu who narrated from the Prophet Sallallaahu ‘Alaihi Wassallam said, “Envy should not be applied to anyone except to two people, someone who was blessed with the Qur’an and then practiced it all night and all day and someone who was blessed with Allah treasure then he infused it all night and all day.”
The messenger of Allah once said, “The example of a Muslim who reads the Qur’an is like oranges, smells good and tastes delicious, while believers who do not read the Qur’an are like dates that have no smell and taste sweet. The hypocritical that reads the Qur’an is like a basil that smells sweet and tastes bitter, whereas a hypocrite who does not read the Qur’an is like a pumpkin that does not smell good and tastes bitter.”
  • Continue to Study the Qur’an Will Keep the God Close
Whoever contemplates His word, then they will know their Lord, will know its virtue compared to other believers, and will realize their obligation to worship until they always try to maintain that obligation. They will be careful of what is prohibited by God and love what He loves. (Also read: 10 Tips to Getting Closer to Quran).
Whoever has such characteristics, when reading the Qur’an and when listening to it, the Qur’an will be the antidote to their heart. They will feel quite without wealth, noble without difficulty, gentle in responding to people who are rude to them.
People who have such characteristics, when they start reading a letter illustrated in their mind is the extent to which they can take lessons from what they read. The goal is to read the Qur’an not only to understand it but also to understand Allah’s commands and take lessons from Him.
Reading the Qur’an is worship so it is not appropriate to read it with an empty heart negligent, and Allah Ta’ala is very helpful towards such. Also, do not forget that there are etiquettes of reading the Qur’an.

The Manners of Cutting Nails in Islam

The Manners of Cutting Nails in Islam

cutting nails

Nails are the part of the body that are soft and easy to grow back. Therefore, when it has reached a certain length, we are suggested to cut the fingernails and toenails. Let the nails long purposely in Islam is the same as letting it become the place of dirt because nails are the outer part of the body that directly interacts with the outside environment. So that it is easy to get various kinds of dirt.
In Islam, we cannot cut nails carelessly. There are certain manners that we should notice before. For example, the forbidden time to cut nails for those who want to sacrifice when Eid al-Adha. So, understand the law of cutting nails before sacrifice.
Then, what are the manners of cutting nails in Islam?
Check out below!
The Virtue of Cutting Nails in Islam
This suggestion or law of cutting nails in Islam is reviewed in some verses.
From Abu Hurairah radhiyallahu ‘anhu, the Prophet shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said,
“There are five kinds of fitrah, they are: circumcision, shaving pubic hair, trimming the mustache, cutting nails, and plucking armpit hair.” (Hadith Bukhari no. 5891 and Muslim no. 258)
Imam Nawawi rahimahullah said,
There is also the time limit of cutting nails, then it is seen from the length of the nails. When it is long, then cut it. This is different from the one and another, it is also seen from the condition. This also becomes a standard of thinning the mustache, plucking armpit hair and pubic hair.”
How to Cut Nails
Before starting to cut nails, prepare the tool first which is a nail clipper or scissors. It is better to use a specially designed nail clipper so that it is safer and easier.
The sunnah is to follow the way that is in the Book of Almajmu, which is:
ويستحب ان يبدأ باليد اليمني ثم اليسرى ثم الرجل اليمني ثم اليسرى
“It is suggested to start from the right hand then the left hand, from the right foot then the left foot.”
According to Imam Nawawi, the sunnah in cutting nails is started from the right hand which is the index finger, middle finger, ring finger, little finger and thumb. Then, it is continued to the left finger, starting from the little finger, ring finger, middle finger, index finger and thumb.
Next is toenails, the sunnah is started from the right little toe to big toe. Then, the left toenails which is started from big toe to little toe.
It is stated in the Book of Fathul Bari, Imam Ibn Hajar said:
“None of the hadiths that explain about the order of cutting nails. However, Imam Nawawi emphasized in the book of Syarh Muslim, that it is suggested to start from the right index finger, middle finger, ring finger, little finger, and thumb. For the left fingernails, it is started from the little finger, ring finger to thumb. For toenails, it is started from the right little toe to big toe, and the left toenails are started from big toe to little toe.”
The Time of Cutting Nails
The law of maintaining long nails in Islam is not more than 40 days. As it is in the verse below.
“We are given a limitation in shortening the mustache, cutting nails, plucking armpit hair, shaving pubic hair, which it is not left for more than 40 nights.” (Hadith Muslim no. 258). What is meant by this hadith is not to let the nails and hairs that are mentioned in the hadith be long for more than 40 days.
  • Cutting nails before doing the Friday prayer
According to Imam asy-Syafi’e and the asy-Syafi’eyah theologians, the sunnah of cutting nails is before doing the Friday prayer, as it is suggested to take a bath, brush teeth, wear a fragrance, dress neatly before going to the mosque to do the Friday prayer.”
Those were the manners of cutting nails in Islam. Hopefully we can practice it in accordance with the provision in Islam. So that the faith in ourselves increases because of keeping the virtues of cleanliness in Islam. Aamiin Insha Allah.

The Manners of Children Towards Parents

The Manners of Children Towards Parents in Islam and Its Verses

children towards parents

The birth of a child in a family is a gift and happiness. When there are so many couples that do not have a child although they have tried hard. Be grateful for you who have been blessed with a child.
When we have a child or even more, then it has been an obligation for the parents to raise and educate them until they are ready to live independently.
Besides the knowledge about religion, such as the kinds of the knowledge of tawheed, a child must also be taught about ethics and manners in the daily life. One of them is the manners of children towards the parents.
What are those? Check out below!
Parents are the first people who will be recognized by the children. The parents’ kindness to the children is so great. So, a child should know how to serve his father and mother. As it is stated in the following verses of serving the parents.
Allah Ta’ala said,
“And your Rabb has ordered human to not worship other than only to Him and they should be kind to both parents as well as possible. And if one of them or both of them are old by your side then do not say ‘ah’ to both of them and do not shout at them.” (QS. Al-Isra: 23)
Looking at Parents with A Good and Not Sharp Look
A child must respect and love his parents. One of them is keeping the look and words in front of parents. Lower the voice and do not look sharply are the form of noble akhlaq in Islam. As it is described in the following verse.
“And say to both of them the noble words and lower yourself towards them with full of love. And say, “O my Rabb, love them as they loved me when I was little.”” (QS. Al-Isra: 24)
If the companions talked with the Prophet, they were lower their voices and they did not look sharply as a form of exalting to the Prophet.
Do Not Interrupt the Parents’ Words
Interrupt the parents’ words is a bad deed. This also applies to the others, it is either younger, the same age or older. Then the next manner towards people is giving parents a chance to finish what they want to say without interrupting or preceding their words.
From Abdullah bin Umar radhiallahu ‘anhu,
We were with the Prophet shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam in Jummar, then the Prophet said: ‘There is a tree that is an example of a Muslim’. Ibn Umar said: ‘Actually, I want to answer: date palm tree. However, because he is the youngest here then I am silent’. Then the Prophet shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam gave the answer (to the people): ‘It is a date palm tree’.”
Do Not Sit When in Front of Parents Who Are Standing
“The Prophet shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam groaned (because of ill), at that time we prayed behind him, while he was sitting, and Abu Bakr made his takbeer audible to people. Then he looked towards us, then he saw us pray in standing position. Then he gave a sign to us to sit, then we prayed by following his prayer in sitting position. When he uttered greetings, then he said, ‘you just almost did the act of Persians and Romans, they stood in front of their king, while they were sitting, then do not do it. Follow your imam. If he prays in standing position, then pray in standing position, and if he prays in sitting position, then pray in sitting position.”
In Islam, we should be able to dispute the culture of non-Muslims. As it is stated in the verse above.
Those were the manners of children towards parents in Islam and its verses that we should be able to practice in the daily life. As good Islam people, we should keep improve the effort in doing the kinds of good deeds so that the love for Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala increases. Aamiin.

The Purposes of Believing in Allah for Muslims

The Purposes of Believing in Allah for Muslims

Believing in Allah is a part of the pillars of faith that must be believed by every Muslim in this world. Believing in Allah means believing with all of your heart that Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala is the only God that must be worshiped. There is no ally for Him.
Allah Ta’ala said,

“(Allah’s power) that is because indeed, Allah, He is (God) The Truth, and indeed, anything that they call other than Allah is wrong, and indeed, Allah, He is The Highest and The Greatest.” (QS. Al-Hajj: 62)
However, what are actually the purposes of believing in Allah?
Maybe that thing has ever come up in your mind. Do not hesitate! Because Allah does not send down a command without a clear and logical purpose. That command of course brings a lot of goodness.
These are some purposes of believing in Allah.
Depending on Allah Only
Believing in Allah is very closely related with Islamic tawhid knowledge. Where the faith must be actualized in rububiyah, uluhiyah and His asma’ wa shifat. Understanding the tawhid knowledge is not difficult, because we can learn it through the Qur’an. It contains many things about the history of tawhid knowledge and the previous stories which aim to strengthen our faith that it is only Allah who must be worshiped.
The faith in Allah that has been embedded correctly in one’s self will make him fully depending on Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala. So that in every matter, he always involves Allah.
Perfecting the Embodiment of Love to Allah
Love is a great energy and also has a great influence to the people who feel it. However, without the right guide, love may have a negative impact to the person. So, be careful when falling in love!
Love that will be explained here is love to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala. Believing in Allah means loving Allah with all of your heart and soul. When love to Allah has reached the perfection, then a servant will always try to istiqomah in Islam as a form of love to Allah.
Allah Ta’ala said,
“Say: “O God who owns the kingdom, You give the kingdom to people who You will and You withdraw the kingdom from people who You will. You glorify people who You will and You humiliate people who You will. In Your hands are all goodness. Indeed, You are The Powerful for everything.”” (QS. Ali ‘Imran [3]: 26)
When we try our best to love Allah, then Allah will also love us, give various graces and show His power to us. Subhanallah!
So, let’s practice various ways to love Allah more than anything by doing His commands and staying away from His prohibitions!
Those are some purposes of believing in Allah that you must understand. How important it is to believe in Allah to achieve the real happiness in the world and the afterlife. Aamiin insha Allah.

Green Color in Islam Perspective

IS THERE ANY RELATION BETWEEN THE GREEN COLOR AND PROPHET MUHAMMAD?

Green color in primary texts [Qur'an and Sunnah]
The color green is a symbol of prosperity and good life. It is mentioned in the noble Qur`an as the color of garments and cushions of the people of Jannah [paradise].
Allah Almighty says,
Upon them will be green garments of fine silk and heavy brocade. [Al-Insan: 21]
And they will wear green garments of fine silk and heavy brocade. [Al-Kahf: 31]
Reclining on green cushions [Al-Rahman: 76]
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said that Allah will dress him in a green garment on the Day of Judgment as per his words:
"When people are resurrected on the Day of Judgment, my community [ummah] and I will stand on top of a hill. Allah Most Exalted will dress me in a green garment and permit me to supplicate Him with whatever I wish. This is the praiseworthy position [al-Maqam al-Mahmoud]"
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) also said that the souls of martyrs are kept in the crops of green birds.
The dome of the Prophet's mosque is green
